FIFA WORLD CUP DAILY
Working as the Digital Producer on the official FIFA World Cup Daily show, my roles included sourcing contributors and producing VTs with presenters, curating and editing the ‘Social Media Moment’ sequence, and creating bespoke vertical video content to promote the show on the FIFA World Cup’s social channels. Based on the ground in Doha for 6 weeks across the tournament, the show was produced by Aurora Media and is available to watch worldwide on FIFA+.

Morocco Fans VT
A highlight of the tournament was the incredible story of Morocco, a squad with the whole Arab world behind them who managed to defeat the likes of Portugal and Spain to reach the semi-finals - making them the first African team to ever do so. In the build-up to the legendary clash with Spain in the quarters, I brought Simo Sedatry, a Moroccan comedian with a combined following of 5.5 million across YouTube and Instagram, onto the show to teach our very own Rachel Stringer a thing or two about Moroccan culture. I directed an interview between the pair and took to the streets of Doha’s infamous Souq Waqif to capture more footage with fans on the streets. To cap off the show segment, we caught up with ecstatic fans at the Education City Stadium at full time, finding Simo living his best life amongst the celebrations. Match footage has been removed from the clip above for rights reasons.
Bespoke Short Form
Across the show run, I worked closely with the FIFA World Cup social team to provide them with bespoke mobile-first content for their TikTok and Instagram channels. At the stadiums, in the fan zones, and out on the streets, each day I filmed and edited social videos with each of our presenters. This video with Timbsy surpassed 1.5 million views within 48 hours on the World Cup’s channels, with post-copy directing audiences back to the main show on FIFA+.
Social Media Moment
As part of each daily show (there were 48 in total!) I was tasked with curating and editing up to three ‘social media moments’ from across the globe. From thousands of fans in Kerala taking to the streets in support of Messi’s Argentina, to fireworks and flares on the ground in Melbourne at 4am, my job was to discover and share World Cup fever in its man forms. A personal favourite was the clip of the Mexican fans out blow-up horses outside one of the stadiums in Doha.

Argentina Fans VT
Another standout VT I had the pleasure of working on was with the Argentina fans, arguably the most passionate group of supporters at the tournament. Recording with Timbsy along Doha’s Al Corniche, we met with Javi Hernandez, an Argentinian TV presenter who introduced us to the intense yet rewarding life of following Argentina on the road. We learned to dance with Maga (a TikToker with over 6 million followers), we spoke to Martin and Nico about the often-painful matchday rituals and superstitions, and we got stadium-ready with a quick lesson in Argentinian football chants. Vamos!
